I am Isabella and I am 14 years old and in grade 9. I love art and music is my passion. I don’t remember a time when my mom was healthy. Five years before I was born, my Mom, Debbie was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. While other kids were being tucked in and having story time I grew up watching Mom take many different medications, including some she had to take through an intravenous, because she was so sick. I have been to the hospital many times to visit my Mom, after various operations on her bowel. I know all about endoscopies, ports, catheters, epidurals, incisions, and ileostomies. I would like you to join me, my family and friends for Gutsy Walk 2013. By working together we can raise funds to find a cure! Please join me in supporting the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada.

Hi. I’m Molly and I’m a Grade 5 French Immersion student. I’m very proud to be the Honourary Chair of this year’s Gutsy Walk. I understand IBD because my mom, aunt, uncle and grandmother all have Crohn’s disease. Because of my family’s history, I decided I’d like to be part of the GEM project and now I’m enrolled as a participant. I’ve been attending CCFC events since I was an infant and I’ve even raised pledges for the Gutsy Walk all on my own. I am so happy to be able to help my mom by raising funds to find the cure. And I’m happy that you’re helping as well.

My name is Olivia Winsor and I am 16 years old. I was diagnosed with IBD when I was only 11 years old. Living with IBD is not easy – I have missed school, events and time with friends and family. But when you have support of friends and family you can lead a full and happy life! I would like everyone in Lake Melville to join us at the Gutsy Walk on June 9, 2013 and raise funds for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada. With your help we can find a cure!

The Trinity-Conception Chapter is pleased to have Darien Green as this year’s Honourary Youth Chair. Darien is 12 years old and in Grade 7 at Baccalieu Collegiate. He plays defense with Ceebees minor hockey and enjoys hunting, fishing and riding his dirt bike. Last year, he was honoured to have received his 10 year volunteer pin. Darien was only 10 months old when he attended his first Gutsy Walk. Along with three generations of family, he has walked, biked and skateboarded at every event since. Each year, he also has a penny drive among family and friends to include on his pledge form. Why the continued commitment to the CCFC? “I hope that with help from other volunteers like my family and me, the CCFC can help find a cure for my father and aunt and prevent others from experiencing the pain of inflammatory bowel disease.”
