My name is Jillian and I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age eight. I am now 12. It has been a very difficult journey for me. In March 2010, I had 23 cm of small intestine removed. I now have the disease in my esophagus and stomach. I try not to let my disease stop me from doing things. My biggest wish in life is to find a cure for Crohn's and colitis. Last year I raised $1,500 – I have set an even higher goal amount to raise this year. Please walk in the Gutsy Walk on Sunday, June 10th, 2012. Thank you for helping me find the cure!

Hi my name is Leah. I am almost 8 years old and when I was 6 I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Before I was diagnosed, I was sick and weak all the time. I wasn't growing properly and I had no energy to play with my friends. Life isn't easy but my Mom and Dad tell me how brave I am all the time. I am now taking Remicade and that is helping me to feel better but I have to go to the hospital and get my medicine through an IV. It takes the whole day, but it's worth it because I'm finally feeling better. My wish is that someday there will be a cure for Crohn's. Do your part and come out and join me on June 10th for this year's Gutsy Walk.

My name is Madeline and I was diagnosed with Crohn's in February 2011 at the age of 10. For three months after my diagnosis I had to be tube-fed through the nose - no solid foods just water, popsicles, clear pop, chewing gum and liquid medication. It was not fun! Since then I have returned to school, gained weight and even grown a few inches taller. I am now scheduled to have a gastric feeding tube put in but I'm not afraid. I may be small but I am mighty and determined to fight this disease. My greatest wish is to find a Cure for Crohn's and Colitis. Please join me in on June 10th and help make my wish come true.

I am happy to act as Honourary Chair of the 2012 Gutsy Walk on PEI. I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease in January 2008, the second year of my term as Lieutenant Governor of Prince Edward Island. Since that time, I have been an advocate for awareness and education about the disease. I encourage the public to support the work of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada, PEI Branch, on June 10th at Confederation Landing, as we raise money to help fund research and find a cure!

Sincerely,
The Honourable Barbara Hagerman

My name is Kate and I am a grade 10 student in Saint John, N.B. I enjoy participating on my high school soccer, swim and volley ball teams. My favourite activity is downhill skiing but I also enjoy taking my dirt bike out for a spin with my younger brother. In January 2010, I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. There are times when I am not feeling well and can't fully participate in the activities that I love but I am determined to live a normal active life. Since my diagnosis, I have worked diligently to increase awareness about IBD and have raised much needed funds to support research in hopes of finding a cure. Please join me on June 10th.

Kate
