Melinda Baragar - In 1991 I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Since then, I have had numerous surgeries and tests. I have all my large intestine gone, part of my bladder and part of the small intestine removed. I missed a lot of school due to hospital stays. During this time I had never considered myself sick. It's just been my life as I know it. In the meantime, I got married and learned to be okay with how I am. I am healthier than I have been in a long time. I can eat whatever I like and I rarely have any pain. Join us as we raise money to find the cure to IBD! Melinda

Hi, I'm Kyla Weber and I'm in Grade 8. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in 2009. I'm a fighter and I'm determined to beat ulcerative colitis. I missed days and months of school in the spring of 2011 – between doctor/specialist appointments, lengthy hospital stays in both Regina & Saskatoon – it would be a test of anyone's spirit but I'm still optimistic. I've seen the best and the worst but this 'Gutsy Girl' is ready to participate in the 2012 Gutsy Walk. See you there!

Kyla

Hi, I'm Karsten Sabo and I'm 10 years old. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis when I was five. Before then, I was sick for 10 months and was losing weight so bad that I had to go on a feeding tube. Today I manage my colitis with medication and probiotics with pills that I find hard to swallow. I've always been the smallest in my class and in the sports that I play. I get bullied because of this, which is stressful. I walk in Gutsy Walk to help raise money and find a cure for this horrible disease. A cure would take my pain away and the pain of so many others. Karsten

My name is Jillian and I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age eight. I am now 12. It has been a very difficult journey for me. In March 2010, I had 23 cm of small intestine removed. I now have the disease in my esophagus and stomach. I try not to let my disease stop me from doing things. My biggest wish in life is to find a cure for Crohn's and colitis. Last year I raised $1,500 – I have set an even higher goal amount to raise this year. Please walk in the Gutsy Walk on Sunday, June 10th, 2012. Thank you for helping me find the cure!

I'm Farah Katz and I am 16. My journey with Crohn's disease began in February 2011 & it has not been easy. I had surgery in July with complications that kept me hospitalized all summer. Now, I am feeling better than I have in a long time. It's not easy to have IBD, but things always improve. If anything, this has made me stronger and I really appreciate all the little things in life.
